You will

- Establish a secure, scalable, and well-governed developer tooling landscape, with an initial focus on the GitHub Enterprise estate, alongside improved governance and management of core tools such as PagerDuty, Docker (and more)

- Deliver infrastructure-as-code–managed toolchain, enabling repeatable configuration, improved auditability of changes, and effective drift detection across GitHub and broader developer tooling

- Contribute to a continuously improving developer platform, using operational insight and developer feedback (including experience surveys) to evolve tooling, standards, patterns, guidance and governance over time

- Identify and mitigate security risks in tool configuration, integration, and usage patterns, reducing the likelihood of misconfiguration and privilege misuse.

- Ensure secure-by-default configuration, patterns and guardrails are embedded into tooling and are easily consumable by development teams.

- Ensuring tools are configured and operated in line with government and organisational security standards.

- Working with the SOC team to help improve the monitoring and alerting across our critical tools

- Ensuring auditability and compliance through improved visibility, logging, and traceability of changes across the tool estate.

- Improving tooling IDAM and privileged access management, aligned to the direction set from the Engineering Access team
