As a M365 Engineer at Howdens, you'll play a key role in shaping and evolving the digital workplace experience for thousands of users.
Working within our Modern Workplace team, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing and supporting modern workplace technologies, with a strong focus on the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and telephony. From enabling collaboration and productivity through Teams, SharePoint Online and OneDrive, to PowerApps, Power automate, Copilot and Copilot Agents you'll help ensure our technology landscape remains modern, secure and user-focused.
This is a full time, permanent opportunity offering the flexibility to work onsite at least 2 days per week at our Brackmills office in Northampton.
You'll work closely with architects, analysts and infrastructure teams to deliver technical projects, drive automation initiatives, improve operational efficiency and support business-critical services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing, building and maintaining Microsoft 365 solutions including Teams, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, OneDrive, Viva Copilot and Power
- Leading technical improvements that enhance collaboration, productivity and user experience
- Developing automation solutions using PowerAutomate, PowerShell, Graph API and related technologies
- Supporting Microsoft 365 migrations, deployments and integrations
- Monitoring service performance and proactively identifying opportunities for optimisation
- Working with security teams to maintain compliance, governance and information protection standards
- Managing incidents, service requests and changes in line with ITIL best practice
- Producing technical documentation, knowledge articles and support materials
- Keeping ahead of Microsoft's roadmap and evaluating emerging technologies, including Copilot and AI-powered workplace solutions
- Supporting and mentoring colleagues within the wider team
What we need from you
We're looking for a technically capable and proactive engineer who enjoys solving complex challenges and delivering innovative workplace solutions.
You'll have:
- Strong experience administering and supporting Microsoft 365 technologies
- Excellent knowledge of Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive and Exchange Online, telephony
- Experience developing automation scripts using PowerShell
- A track record of successfully delivering infrastructure or workplace technology projects
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across modern workplace platforms
- Experience working within service management frameworks such as ITIL
- The ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A passion for continuous improvement and service optimisation
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
It would be advantageous if you also have:
- Microsoft certifications such as MS-700 or MS-102
- Experience with Microsoft Graph API
- Experience implementing automation and process improvements at scale
- Knowledge of Microsoft security, compliance and governance tooling
- Exposure to Copilot, Viva Suite or other modern workplace technologies
