We’re currently seeking aLegal Counselto join our high-performing Escode Legal Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a recently qualified or trainee solicitor to take their legal career to the next level within a growing and dynamic area of contract law and software escrow.

About the Role

As a Legal Counsel, you will play a critical role in supporting Escode’s commercial activities across the UK and internationally. You’ll work under the supervision of experienced legal professionals and in line with SRA requirements, delivering pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice across multiple business areas.

Key responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial contracts and legal documents.
  • Developing and maintaining legal templates tailored to evolving services and sales channels.
  • Delivering legal training sessions to new joiners across UK sales and operational teams.
  • Providing clear and actionable legal advice on commercial, IP, and dispute-related matters.
  • Collaborating with compliance, corporate legal, and company secretarial teams to manage cross-functional legal issues.
  • Supporting our international offices (e.g. Europe and the US) on English law aspects of contracts.
  • Researching and advising on specialist topics relevant to the software escrow industry.
  • Managing day-to-day legal queries and supporting broader legal team objectives.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience or strong interest in working within a legal environment (in-house or private practice).
  • Ability to communicate legal advice in a clear and concise manner to a non-legal audience.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and build relationships across diverse teams.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Confidence and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite.

Desirable

  • Prior experience providing legal advice in a commercial or technology-focused context.
  • Familiarity with the IT/software or cybersecurity industry.
  • Awareness of escrow or business continuity solutions.
