Help protect critical national infrastructure and digital services relied upon across England and Wales. Inspire People is partnering with HMLR to recruit a Lead Infrastructure Specialist - Security, a senior technical leadership role responsible for strengthening cyber security capabilities across a large-scale, nationally significant technology estate. £57,000 to £70,900 plus 28.97% employer pension contribution Based in Plymouth with minimum 60% office-based across the month.

As a Lead Infrastructure Specialist - Security you will:

  • Act as a recognised security subject matter expert, accountable for the design, implementation and management of cyber security controls and assessment functions.
  • Provide technical leadership across security engineering, cyber defence, security assurance and incident management activities.
  • Lead the continual improvement of security controls, assessment methodologies and cyber resilience capabilities.
  • Influence technical decision-making across infrastructure and security teams, ensuring solutions align with business and technology strategies.
  • Design and implement security controls to mitigate threats and vulnerabilities across infrastructure, platforms and services.
  • Work closely with architects, technical leads, suppliers and delivery teams to deliver secure, resilient technology solutions.
  • Develop capability across engineering teams through mentoring, coaching and technical leadership.
  • Support the successful delivery of operational services, infrastructure change and technology transformation programmes.
  • Champion modern engineering practices, continuous improvement and industry best practice.
  • Build strong relationships across the organisation to support secure and effective service delivery.

Essential Skills for theLead Infrastructure Specialist:

  • Degree-level qualification in Information Technology (or related discipline) or significant equivalent industry experience.
  • Advanced expertise across at least three security technologies or disciplines, including PAM, ADFS, Firewalls, Entra, SIEM, EDR/XDR, CTEM, WAF/DDoS, PKI, SASE, IDS/IPS, security assurance frameworks, incident response or cryptographic systems.
  • Advanced experience assessing security controls, security posture and prioritising risk-based improvements.
  • Advanced skills in designing, engineering and managing secure systems and infrastructure controls.
  • Experience planning and leading significant infrastructure change programmes.
  • Technical leadership experience within complex enterprise environments.
  • Ability to analyse, articulate and solve complex problems and make sound decisions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical audiences.
