About the Role

Consula is recruiting on behalf of a large, established organisation for an IT Operations Manager to lead the delivery and improvement of the systems its teams rely on every day.

You will manage a skilled technical team, oversee a busy programme of system enhancements and new technology, and make sure change lands smoothly for the colleagues who use these systems day to day. It is a role that blends people leadership, project delivery and practical problem-solving — and your work will have a visible impact on services used by large numbers of people.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced IT professional looking to step into a broader leadership role, or an existing manager who wants a fresh challenge in a supportive, well-resourced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, support and develop a technical team, setting clear priorities and building skills and capacity.

• Evaluate and prioritise system enhancements, new modules and emerging technologies.

• Lead projects from business case and planning through to delivery and handover.

• Manage budgets, costs, risks and resources across a varied programme of work.

• Coordinate suppliers and partners, ensuring value for money and strong working relationships.

• Maintain effective governance, security controls and change management around all system changes.

• Plan and coordinate training, communication and handover so new technology is adopted successfully.

• Report progress, risks and benefits clearly to senior stakeholders.

• Champion continuous improvement in how systems support day-to-day services.

What Success Looks Like

• System changes and projects are delivered on time and within budget.

• New technology is adopted smoothly, with minimal disruption to colleagues and services.

• Governance, security and change controls are consistently maintained.

• The team is engaged, developing and delivering to a high standard.

Person Specification

Experience

• Experience leading or supervising a technical or IT team.

• A track record of delivering system changes or technology projects in a structured way.

• Experience managing suppliers, budgets or project resources.

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, organised approach.

• Confidence working with both technical specialists and non-technical colleagues.

• Good understanding of governance, security and change management around system change.

• Clear communication skills, including reporting to senior stakeholders.

Personal Qualities

• Reliable, organised and committed to high standards.

• Approachable and able to build positive working relationships at all levels.

• Willing to learn, take feedback and continue developing in the role.

What Is On Offer

• Hybrid working after training and demonstrated competence.

• 28 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.

• Flexitime, pension membership, life cover and development opportunities.

• A supportive working environment where your contribution makes a real difference.

• Visa sponsorship is not available.
