Salary: £38,000 – £41,700 per year (depending on experience)

About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and motivated Hygienist / Orthodontic Therapist to join our friendly and professional dental team. The successful candidate will work under the prescription of a Specialist Orthodontist while also delivering high-quality dental hygiene care to patients.
This is a dual-role position ideal for candidates qualified in both orthodontic therapy and dental hygiene, enabling them to provide comprehensive patient care.
This role is suitable for candidates who require Skilled Worker visa sponsorship, provided they meet the registration requirements set by the General Dental Council.
Key Responsibilities
Orthodontic Therapy Duties:

  • Carry out orthodontic treatments under the prescription of an orthodontist or dentist.
  • Place and adjust orthodontic archwires, brackets, and other appliances.
  • Take dental impressions, intraoral scans, and clinical photographs.
  • Fit orthodontic bands and attachments as prescribed.
  • Remove orthodontic appliances and prepare tooth surfaces after treatment.
  • Monitor treatment progress and report concerns to the supervising orthodontist.
    Dental Hygiene Duties:
  • Provide routine dental hygiene treatments including scaling, polishing, and periodontal care.
  • Deliver preventative oral health education and tailored oral hygiene advice.
  • Support patients in maintaining oral health during and after orthodontic treatment.
  • Assess periodontal health and record clinical findings accurately.
  • Promote good oral hygiene practices and preventative care plans.
    General Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and patient documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control, health and safety, and clinical governance standards.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary dental team to ensure excellent patient care.
    Essential Requirements
  • Qualification in Orthodontic Therapy recognised by the General Dental Council.
  • Qualification in Dental Hygiene recognised by the General Dental Council.
  • Current GDC registration as an Orthodontic Therapist and Dental Hygienist (or eligibility to register).
  • Excellent communication and patient care skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a dental team.
    Desirable Skills
  • Previous experience working in an orthodontic or mixed dental practice.
  • Knowledge of digital orthodontic systems and intraoral scanners.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
