Full Stack Software Engineer

West of England | 4-5 Days Onsite | Permanent

Ncounter are supporting a specialist engineering organisation delivering highly secure software systems within the UK national security sector. As part of significant growth plans, they are looking to hire several Software Engineers ranging from mid-level through to senior level.

This opportunity will suit engineers who enjoy solving complex technical problems, working within highly secure environments, and contributing to software that supports genuinely important missions.

Candidates must either hold active eDV clearance or possess active DV clearance with the potential to progress to eDV. The ability and willingness to work onsite in the West of England four to five days per week is essential.

The organisation places particular value on strong software engineering fundamentals, curiosity, and a willingness to work across multiple technologies. Engineers are encouraged to contribute across the stack rather than remaining within a narrow technical specialism.

You could have experience across several of the following:

• Java and modern backend development

• JavaScript and web technologies

• RESTful API development and integration

• Kubernetes and container platforms

• OpenShift

• GitLab and CI/CD pipelines

• Distributed systems and cloud-native applications

• Observability and monitoring technologies

• Database and messaging technologies

• Secure software engineering and DevSecOps practices

The environment offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers within a collaborative and low-ego culture. Around 10% of working time is dedicated to training and development, including external courses, innovation projects, and personal development activities.

Package highlights include:

• 10% employer pension contribution

• Relocation support

• Genuine investment in technical development

• Flexible start and finish times

• Strong work-life balance

If you already hold eDV clearance and want to work on meaningful software engineering challenges within a highly technical environment, please apply for a confidential discussion with Ncounter.
