Help protect the UK's critical nuclear infrastructure

Cyber threats continue to evolve. That's why the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is looking for experienced cyber security professionals to join us as Cyber Security & Operational Resilience Inspectors, helping to safeguard the UK's civil nuclear sector.

The role

You'll regulate cyber security and operational resilience across the UK's civil nuclear sector, assessing cyber security arrangements, making evidence-based regulatory judgements and helping ensure organisations are effectively managing cyber risks.

The role offers a unique mix of inspections, assessments and engagement with industry, government and national security partners. You'll work on complex and nationally significant challenges, collaborating with colleagues across multiple disciplines while helping shape cyber security regulation, policy and good practice across the UK and internationally.

About you

You'll bring:

*

Significant experience in cyber security or operational resilience, ideally within critical national infrastructure, a regulated environment or another high-hazard industry.

*

Strong knowledge of cyber security, information risk management and cyber resilience.

*

Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex technical information, balance risks and make proportionate, evidence-based judgements.

*

Outstanding communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders and explain complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

*

A recognised cyber security qualification (such as an NCSC-certified Master's degree, CISSP or equivalent Level 6 qualification), professional membership and/or chartership, and the ability to achieve and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance.

Why join ONR?

This is a rare opportunity to build a specialist career while making a direct contribution to the UK's national security. You'll work alongside leading experts, influence cyber security and operational resilience across a critical industry, and enjoy a flexible, supportive and inclusive working environment with significant investment in learning, capability development and ongoing professional growth.

Regular travel across Great Britain and occasional international travel will form part of the role.

Closing date: 7th August 2026
