Role Overview

A Senior Cloud Engineer is required to join a leading national security consultancy delivering high-impact solutions for UK government clients. This role focuses on designing, building, and managing secure AWS cloud architectures in a DV-cleared environment. Based in Gloucester with hybrid flexibility, you will contribute to mission-critical projects requiring innovation and technical leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement cloud-native architectures using AWS services.
  • Deploy infrastructure via IaC tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK.
  • Manage infrastructure creation, networking (including SDN), and container orchestration (Kubernetes, ECS, OpenShift).
  • Oversee software configuration, source repositories, and security best practices.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, create implementation patterns, and lead teams for senior contributors.
  • Ensure compliance with DV clearance standards and leverage AWS security features.
Candidate Profile
  • Proven expertise across AWS services with commitment to staying current on releases.
  • Hands-on experience with IaC (Terraform/CDK preferred), configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef), and scripting (Python, Bash, Go).
  • Strong knowledge of cloud networking, container systems, and security implementation.
  • AWS certifications advantageous; senior-level experience in government or defence sectors essential.
  • Resourceful team player comfortable in hybrid, high-stakes settings.
