Job Description:

We are seeking candidates to join our mobile app team. Our mobile application helps to alert security professionals to critical information that they need to know whilst they are on the go, giving them peace of mind that Darktrace’s Self-Learning AI is making decisions and taking proportionate, autonomous actions to thwart in-progress attacks while they are away from their desks.

Please note this is a hybrid position with a requirement of 2 days per week in the Cambridge office.

What will I be doing:

Mobile app developers work closely with our in-house design team and will liaise with other members of the Darktrace R&D team to bring new features to the mobile app and to refine our existing offering. Developers will be expected to work towards competence in both iOS and Android development and will be offered training and support to achieve this. Other responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the in-house design team and other members of the Darktrace R&D team to develop new features for the mobile app,
  • Refining and enhancing the existing mobile app offering,
  • Working towards competence in Android development, with training and support provided,
  • Writing and maintain code for mobile applications,
  • Communicating proactively with team members and work independently.

What experience do I need:

We are looking for a candidate with a strong foundation in mobile application development and a passion for creating innovative solutions. You should be comfortable working with modern Android technologies and demonstrate the ability to design, build, and maintain high-quality applications. While certain skills are essential, we also value adaptability and a willingness to learn new technologies. You should also be able to demonstrate:

  • A strong interest in mobile app technologies and emerging trends,
  • Proven experience designing and developing mobile applications for Android platforms,
  • Good working knowledge of Java, XML, and Kotlin for Android development.
  • Familiarity with Android SDK, UI design principles, and performance optimization techniques,
  • Experience with C++ and/or JavaScript is desirable but not essential.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs and integration with backend services,
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable code and follow best practices in mobile development.
