Senior SOC Engineer

Robert Half is recruiting an experienced Senior SOC Engineer for a London-based payments organisation. This is an initial 3-6 month contract with the potential for extension.

Responsibilities:

• The Senior SOC Engineer will lead the operation and optimisation of our SOC, ensuring swift detection and response to security incidents.
• Configure, manage, and optimise SIEM systems to enhance threat detection and monitoring capabilities.
• Integrate and leverage Datadog to provide additional visibility and observability across security operations.
• Develop and maintain advanced correlation rules, dashboards, and alerts for efficient threat identification.
• Conduct incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, DevOps, and compliance, to enhance security posture.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior SOC staff during the engagement.
• Document processes and procedures to ensure knowledge transfer and continuity at the end of the contract.

Experience:

• The Senior SOC Engineer should have extensive experience in SOC engineering or security operations roles.
• Hands-on expertise with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar, or similar), including rule creation and management.
• Familiarity with Datadog, including its integration with SIEM systems (experience with Datadog is a plus).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex incidents under pressure.
• Proven track record in incident response and threat hunting.
• Deep understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, threat landscapes, and best practices.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration and documentation.
