Our Resilience Security and Risk teamincludes leading experts in security intelligence, blast andprotective design, physical and electronic security design,cyber-security, personnel and operational security. The OpportunityThe role of Senior Security System Engineer within the ResilienceSecurity and Risk team demands a combination of technical andcommercial excellence. The successful candidate will demonstratethe qualities of someone keen to develop innovative solutions andinspire both clients and fellow colleagues within Arup. As well asdelivering technical excellence, you will hold managerial remit asfollows: 1. Managerial role in the team outside of your immediatetechnical area of interest; 2. Developing relationships withexisting and new clients and an engagement plan; 3. Represent theResilience, Security and Risk team at external conferences, workingparties and BSI committees by presenting or contributing to thestrategic direction of the security in the UK and globally; 4.Provide technical oversight and guidance to the graduates andconsultants to ensure that the best possible standards areachieved; 5. Review contracts and resolve them in conjunction withthe Arup Legal team; 6. Set project forecasts and delivery plans,working with the commercial manager to ensure they are kept up todate and on track; 7. Negotiate fee changes with clients andproactively manage change to protect Arup interest; 8. Work acrossa wide range of industries including transport, energy, education,science, cities and digital. Is this role right for you? Todemonstrate your technical knowledge, you should be working towardsor have reached subject matter expertise in one or more of thefollowing technical fields: Design and delivery of integratedsolutions using state of the art technology applicable to securitydesign, such as: - CCTV with intelligent content analysis; - Accesscontrol, both SAM and cloud-based solutions; - Fast, accurate andsensitive personnel and vehicle security search offerings; -Intruder alarm / detection systems; - Adaptable and scalable systemarchitecture; - Physical design of facilities and controlled areasto mitigate against forced entry using manual/powered tools. Withinthis role you will contribute, develop and/or interpret threat,vulnerability and risk assessments. Conversant in designing in theBIM environment to BIM LD300 (ideally both MicroStation and Revit)and be able to provide guidance to the junior consultants ondelivery and the security considerations. A thorough understandingof BIM and how PAS 1192 part 5 applies to Security system designwill be needed. Specialist system design software such as JVSG“ip-video-system-design-tool” or similar digital applications.Qualification in system, electrical, electronic or digitaltechnology design or integration will be expected. Industry and/oracademic credentials in security or risk management would be ideal.The successful candidate will hold membership of or be workingtowards membership of an established UK security relatedinstitution such as Security Institute; Register of SecurityEngineers and Specialists (RSES); ASIS. We are open to candidateswith a background in Mechanical, System, Nuclear, Telecoms,Aeronautical, or Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering with ideallythe following: - Proficient in Bluebeam Studio for hosted designreviews with clients; - Experience in working on projects outsideof UKIMEA; - A holistic approach to identifying solutions forclients; you will not default to technology-only solutions forsecurity problems; - Appreciate how national and internationallegislation and standards are applied; - Dedicated to growing thebusiness and therefore be a proactive networker willing to travelregionally and internationally; - Be prepared to work on clientsite outside of London for periods of time.
