Senior IT Systems Engineer/Automation Engineer

Location: Preston, UK (Hybrid – 2–3 days onsite)

The Opportunity

We’re recruiting an Automation Engineer for a well-established and forward-thinking MSP that is investing heavily in automation and operational efficiency. This is a newly created role, designed to remove reliance on manual processes and drive smarter, scalable ways of working.

This position is a strategic, build-focused role, where you’ll take ownership of automation across the business. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, define best practices, and have a real impact on service delivery and business performance.

The Role

You’ll act as the internal subject matter expert for automation, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining automation across multiple platforms, with a strong emphasis on N-Central RMM. Operating with a high level of autonomy, you’ll bridge the gap between technical teams and leadership, identifying inefficiencies and delivering end-to-end solutions.

Key Responsibilities



Own the discovery, design, build, and ongoing management of automation solutions

Develop, optimise, and maintain N-Central RMM policies, scripts, monitoring templates, and workflows

*

Build automation and integrations across Halo PSA, Microsoft 365, Azure, and SOC tooling

*

Create and maintain PowerShell scripts to reduce manual workload across technical teams

*

Improve monitoring thresholds, alerting standards, and automated responses across RMM and SOC environments

*

Support SOC alert optimisation, including automated enrichment and routing

*

Build and maintain strong documentation and automation standards

*

Create a centralised automation library to ensure repeatability and scalability

*

Collaborate with internal teams to proactively identify automation opportunities

About You

*

Mid-to-senior level engineer with MSP experience (essential)

*

Comfortable owning your workload and leading initiatives

*

Strong problem-solving and analytical mindset

*

Confident communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders

*

Looking for a role with influence and long-term growth
