Business Development Director: Executive Search & Selection; Advanced Engineering & Life Science

Are you a Senior IT Supervisor with experience in 3rd-line IT support, looking to work for a forward-thinking, growing, and financially secure business within the manufacturing and operations sector? If so, Umbilical Limited is working on an assignment seeking an experienced and strategic Senior IT Supervisor to join a business that has grown from humble beginnings into a UK powerhouse.

The Senior IT Supervisor's role will be as follows:

  • Oversee and maintain the company's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and cloud-based systems.
  • Manage internal software, including operating systems (Windows 10, Windows 11) and Windows Server 2016+.
  • This role will be more hardware-focused, covering infrastructure such as servers, storage arrays, networks, Microsoft servers, ERP system (Navision) licensing, VM software (virtual machines), hyper servers (facilitating VM connections across different servers), switches, wireless systems, and core infrastructure.
  • Supervise and lead a team of two 1st-line IT Support Technicians.
  • Ensure robust cybersecurity measures are in place to protect company data and IT systems from threats and breaches.
  • Manage and support general IT software, applications, and hardware across the business.
  • Manage relationships with third-party IT vendors, service providers, and consultants.
  • Plan and execute IT projects, upgrades, and improvements in line with business needs, providing proactive solutions to enhance IT efficiency and reliability.
  • Implement and monitor cybersecurity systems, including cyber monitoring solutions, and manage and maintain the Building Management System (BMS), Access Control systems, and CCTV infrastructure.
  • Identify and implement emerging technologies that can improve efficiency, automation, and business agility.

The ideal Senior IT Supervisor will have a combination of the following:

  • Previous roles:3rd Line IT Support (infrastructure, high-end servers), IT Supervisor, or IT Manager for a smaller company that does 3rd-line support.
  • Experience in MSP:Managed Service Providers (remote IT management) and 3rd-line MSP support experience.
  • Technical skills:Experienced in Microsoft systems, Office 365, managing & maintaining Windows infrastructure, 365 deployments, hyper servers, VMs, and CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Administrator).
  • Sector experience:Manufacturing is preferred, or logistics/distribution, to understand product flow.
  • Education:Experience over formal education.
  • Location:Must be based near the plant, as this is a five-day-per-week office-based role.
  • Leadership:Experienced in leading small IT teams and willing to work on callouts every two weeks.
