Security Solutions Architect

We’re seeking a talented Security Solutions Architect to design and deliver secure, scalable, and cloud-native microservices architectures that power engaging, seamless experiences for millions of guests worldwide.


About the Role

This is a high-impact position within the Digital & Data division, responsible for designing secure, scalable, and high-performing microservices architectures that support Merlin’s mission to transform the digital guest experience across its world-renowned attractions.


You’ll work at the intersection of architecture, security, DevOps, and cloud, guiding the development of resilient systems while embedding best-in-class security practices throughout.


Responsibilities

  • Architect secure, scalable, and resilient microservices systems.
  • Define service boundaries, orchestration strategies, and ensure architectural alignment with business goals.
  • Champion best practices in security, performance, and cloud-native development.
  • Design and implement solutions within AWS, Azure, or GCP environments.
  • Establish CI/CD pipelines, containerisation strategies, and DevOps automation practices.
  • Introduce and manage telemetry and monitoring toolsets for real-time system insight.
  • Conduct performance tuning, stress testing, and security assessments.
  • Partner with technology, product, and operations teams to deliver consistent and secure digital capabilities.
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends in microservices, cloud, and security.


Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience designing and implementing enterprise-grade microservices architectures.
  • Strong software development background (Java, .NET, Python) with architectural leadership.
  • Deep understanding of microservices principles, API design, and domain-driven design.
  • Proficient in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern DevOps tooling (e.g., Terraform, Jenkins, Kubernetes).
  • Hands-on with observability and monitoring tools (e.g., DataDog, Azure Monitor, AppDynamics).
  • Expert in cyber security practices, identity management, encryption, and secure API development.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as GDPR and PCI-DSS.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, ideally in a global or matrixed environment.
