Job summary

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen to join theDigital Services Operations team as a Digital Resilience and Disaster Recovery Technician at The MidYorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.

The Digital Operations Team support the trust CyberSecurity, Servers, Network and Data Storage, along with the implementation andsupport of new systems.

The successful candidate will play a critical role inensuring the availability, continuity, and resilience of the Trusts digitalinfrastructure and services. The post holder will support the design,implementation, testing, and maintenance of the Trusts disaster recovery (DR)and business continuity (BC) plans, ensuring robust preparedness for potentialdisruptions to IT systems and services.

We are looking for a friendly, motivated and enthusiasticindividual who is passionate to deliver high-quality services and contribute toits ongoing development.

Experience of working in a high-pressured NHS IT serviceenvironment with the ability to communicate with confidence to staff andcustomers at all levels, would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

This role will involve working closely with technical teamsacross Digital Services, as well as stakeholders from clinical and operationaldepartments, to minimise the impact of incidents and ensure the Trust canmaintain critical services during and after any disruption. The Resilience andDisaster Recovery Technician will contribute to strengthening theorganisation's resilience by identifying vulnerabilities, mitigating risks, andpromoting best practices in disaster recovery and continuity planning.

Job responsibilities

Thesuccessful candidate will provide expert technical input into the developmentand execution of DR solutions and be instrumental in maintaining compliancewith NHS, regulatory, and industry standards related to resilience and disasterrecovery.

Support the development, implementation, andregular testing of disaster recovery and business continuity plans for ITsystems and services.

Conduct risk assessments and impact analyses toidentify vulnerabilities in the Trusts digital infrastructure and recommendmitigation strategies.

Ensure backup, replication, and failoversolutions are implemented, monitored, and tested to support high availabilityand recovery objectives.

Collaborate with technical teams to ensuredisaster recovery solutions align with the organisations digital strategy andoperational needs.

Maintain comprehensive documentation of DRprocesses, including runbooks, test plans, and recovery procedures.

Participate in regular DR exercises, reportingon outcomes, and implementing improvements based on findings.

Provide technical advice and support todepartments on resilience best practices, fostering a culture of preparednessand risk awareness.

Monitor compliance with relevant standards andregulations, such as DSP Toolkit and NHS requirements, to provide assurance onresilience and recovery capabilities.

This role is vital in safeguarding the Trustsability to deliver uninterrupted, high-quality care by ensuring IT services areresilient and recoverable in the face of unexpected challenges.

Experience of working both independently and in a team orientated collaborative environment. Demonstrable experience of working on Resilience and Disaster Recovery technologies and processes.

Previous experience of working in an acute NHS Trust.

Highly computer literate. Excellent Microsoft Office skills. Experience of using a call resolution system. Ability to work autonomously and use initiative and judgement in decision making.
