About the Business
A large, well-established services business based in Birmingham city centre is seeking a Client Accountant to join its finance team. This super flexible role offers the opportunity to take ownership of client accounting across a complex portfolio within a commercial, fast-paced environment.
Main Duties:
As a Client Accountant, your main duties include:

  • Own the month-end close process, including preparation and review of accounts, journals, and reporting
  • Manage the monthly close timetable, ensuring all deliverables are completed accurately and on time
  • Lead IFRS 16 lease accounting across a complex, multi-entity property portfolio
  • Prepare, review, and sign off month-end journals and reports prior to submission
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and wider financial planning activities
  • Oversee VAT reporting and compliance, including Non-Resident Landlord obligations
  • Support the implementation and ongoing operation of financial controls and SOC reporting
  • Review and approve monthly governance packs in collaboration with senior stakeholders
  • Drive automation and continuous improvement to improve efficiency and data quality
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, quality standards, and stakeholder requirements
  • Contribute to the development of people, processes, systems, and reporting frameworks
  • Provide support on ad-hoc finance, audit, and reporting requirements as needed
    Location / Office / Culture
    The role is based in modern offices in Birmingham city centre, offering a hybrid working arrangement of just two days in the office.     What We Are Looking For
    The ideal candidate will have:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
  • Experience or strong working knowledge of IFRS 16 is a bonus
  • Confident communicator able to work with a range of stakeholders
  • Solid understanding of property accounting fundamentals
  • Experience managing a small team is an added bonus
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and complex formulae
