Job Description

We are looking for a PLM Solution Architect to join the team to lead the deployment, configuration, customisation, and ongoing maintenance of all software within the CAD/PLM ecosystem within Atlassian Williams Racing.

Reporting to our Head of PLM, you will be responsible for aligning the organisation’s processes, transformation, and requirements with the capabilities of the PLM software; collaborating closely with stakeholders and project teams; and designing and implementing PLM and CAD solutions and architecture that meets the business's specific needs.  

This role requires a significant understanding of Siemens Teamcenter and Siemens NX, however multiple additional design, simulation and data tools are also considered part of this solution/platform stack. 

Main responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with business stakeholders across the design functions to understand key business processes, programmes and transformation and map capabilities into the PLM platforms 

  • Understand and help business leaders to articulate core PLM capabilities and maturity levels, and how these map into systems  

  • Operate as a trusted advisor on PLM capabilities and tooling to business and IT stakeholders. Represent existing capabilities to key stakeholders through white papers, demos and presentations, to increase understanding of the platforms, promote more efficient utilisation of existing capabilities, and to find valuable opportunities for business transformation 

  • Assess and contribute to the business processes and functional requirements definitions that can drive value and improvement

  • Act as a subject matter expert on the PLM platforms, architecture and capabilities, and lead functional teams to help define solution configuration 

  • Define and lead on Proof of Value (POV) activities that can quickly demonstrate innovative ideas or changes, and deliver confidence on their impact/value

  • Assist in leading the technical modernisation and digital transformation efforts as needed

  • Keep up to date with the PLM industry, the Siemens ecosystem of tools, particularly around Teamcenter and NX, understand new software releases, updates, use cases. Share valuable and useful insight to stakeholders, peers and teammates

  • Collaborate with Siemens and other key suppliers on Product Development; seek out early piloting opportunities to prove additional value and accelerate ahead of competition 

  • Coach and mentor junior members of the team in the PLM platform capabilities and toolset

  • Define and propose a solution architecture that meets the needs expressed by customers while optimising the business processes in line with the possibilities offered our PLM tools 

  • Work with colleagues, solution architect peers and enterprise architecture to propose integrated solutions and ways of working across Enterprise Systems and Williams Racing as a whole

  • Lead the implementation and configuration of the PLM tools to meet departmental-specific needs

  • Support the functional teams in the tool's development and its implementation within the various projects

  • Deliver UATs and Post Go-Live Support

  • Ensure solution administration such as user access rights, BMIDE configuration, scripting, coding, workflows, and reports, is delivered appropriately and in a timely manner 

  • Troubleshoot and resolve significant issues that arise with the tools and architecture

  • Seek root cause analysis and propose preventative actions and continuous improvement 

  • Maintain and update the software configuration

  • Propose and document, or collect, and maintain Best Practices and champion their visibility and reuse 

  • Define Solution Standards and track their adherence

  • Seek out ‘workarounds’ and lead activities to eliminate alternative or off-system process through communication, training, relationship building, and escalation 

  • Provide support in the development and, at times, deployment of training for end-users

  • Ensure the adequacy between the proposed solution architecture, solution standards, and the contractual commitments with vendors

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure data accuracy and integrity

  • Prioritise security to protect Intellectual Property, Cybersecurity Threats, Regulatory compliance, Data Integrity, and Quality 

  • Ensure security measures are in place to maintain Business Continuity in the event of unforeseen disruptions or security breaches. This involves establishing robust backup systems, disaster recovery protocols, and resilient infrastructure designs that can quickly restore operations and minimise downtime

  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to ensure the reliability and stability of the PLM architecture

Skills and experience required:

  • Previous, proven experience in Teamcenter PLM architecture, development, and deployment

  • Strong experience in TC modules (BMIDE, Active Workspace, Structure Manager, Change Management, etc.)

  • Proficiency in Teamcenter ITK, RAC, and SOA customisation

  • Experience with CAD integrations (NX, CATIA, Solid-Edge, etc.)

  • Strong understanding of PLM workflows, security, and data models

  • Experience with enterprise integration (D365, ERP, MES, IoT, etc.)

  • Hands-on experience with SQL, Java, C++, C# and scripting languages (Python, Shell, etc.)

  • Collaborative and curious approach to technical problem-solving

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey concept technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

  • Ability to work with a wide range of groups and disciplines seamlessly

  • Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving requirements
