AWS Security is looking for a motivated professional to join our Security Operations Centre (SOC) team, overseeing the operation of our physical access control system (PACS) and helping us to automate a sustainable and robust architecture for future growth. You will be joining our systems engineering team to actively troubleshoot and ensure the operation of our physical access control systems, automating where possible.

Key job responsibilities
WHAT DOES A PHYSICAL SYSTEMS SECURITY ENGINEER DO AT AMAZON?

As a systems engineer on our team, you will ensure the safety of physical assets, personnel, and data through robust security solutions and effective management of security infrastructure. You will be responsible for the overall health of our service and provide excellent customer experience to our partners. You will create availability and health metrics, monitor performance, perform regular system maintenance, and architect innovative solutions for running a PACS in a large, distributed environment. You will execute and coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs of the Security systems equipment. You will integrate security solutions with IT and network infrastructure for seamless operation. You will automate routine tasks enabling the team to be quick and agile and be looked to as an expert in system automation. A trusted partner to our internal customers, you'll help to define requirements and see those requirements through to delivery. You will provide technical support and training to end-users and security staff on the operation and troubleshooting of physical security systems. You should enjoy digging deep to find answers, sometimes this will require reverse engineering existing solutions, a situation you thrive in.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Basic qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or another STEM-related field; or equivalent experience
•3+ years of experience with Windows Server, networking, and associated technologies (Active Directory, Group Policy, etc.).
•3+ years of experience with relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL). 3+ years’ scripting experience (PowerShell, Batch, Perl, Python, Ruby, etc.). 1+ years’ experience with a Physical Access Control system (Lenel, RedCloud, etc.). 1+ years’ experience working with CCTV systems and video surveillance platforms 1+ years’ experience with Linux systems administration and or development. Good understanding of risk management and physical security threat mitigation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Proven ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues in security hardware and software components, including servers, cameras, sensors, and controllers. Experience using Amazon Web Services (S3, EC2, VPC, etc.). Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Proven experience creating documentation for production systems. Proven experience creating end-user training and documentation
•Experience in conducting security audits and assessments.
•Knowledge of industry security standards and best practices (e.g., PCI-DSS, NIST). Certifications in physical security systems (e.g., Security+ or relevant certifications in access control systems). Familiarity with cloud-based physical security solutions and IoT devices.
