Substance is searching for a dedicated and knowledgeableNetwork Security Engineerto join our client's team to protect their IT infrastructure against cyber threats. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing network security solutions that safeguard the organization’s sensitive information. You will collaborate with various teams to develop effective security policies and protocols, ensuring that the network environment remains secure and compliant with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement secure network architectures, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Monitor network traffic and respond to security incidents and breaches in a timely manner.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and maintain security policies and best practices to align with compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure proper configuration and hardening of network devices and systems.
  • Research emerging security threats and recommend enhancements to the security posture.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for security incidents and response efforts.
  • Conduct training and awareness sessions for staff on best practices in network security.
  • Assist in the development of disaster recovery and business continuity plans related to network security.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in network security engineering with a strong understanding of network protocols.
  • Expertise in security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and DLP systems.
  • Hands-on experience with network monitoring and security management tools.
  • Strong knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, PCI-DSS).
  • Relevant certifications such asCCNP Security, CISSP, or CISMare preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
