Job Description

As a software and hosting supplier to the public sector, NECSWS is very focused on delivering secure solutions to its clients. We are growing our existing Security function and are looking for a Security Manager to join our established team.

The Infosec business partners team are responsible for building collaboration with the BUs, acting between the business needs and the Infosec requirements. The Junior Security Manager role is responsible for supporting the primary responsibilities: acting as a central point of contact for the business units in Infosec matters, representing the company in customer engagements and encouraging a shift in security culture across the organisation.

The scope of the role is across the four Business Units and pillars of NECSWS: Government, Public Safety, Healthcare, Housing

Tasks include:

  • Consistent PoC for the BUs, providing a direct channel and rapid response to business needs
  • Close involvement with Product and Dev teams, improving SDL and DevSecOps
  • Ability to triage, advise and direct business requests, reducing effort on the Infosec SMEs
  • Established channel of communication between BUs and Infosec to give “on point” messaging.
  • Driving a culture change to improve BU engagement
  • Creating a conduit for any new business acquisitions
  • Reporting status and metrics back to customers (internal and external)
  • Assisting and ensuring DPIAs are completed for products and services

In addition to the business-as-usual tasks described above, the role will work particularly closely with the security assurance team, plus other teams in Infosec to maintain a collaborative approach across the Infosec structure.

The role will also work closely with the Security Architects to ensure the architecture design patterns and considerations are adhered to at an early stage with any new development.


Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate an overall understanding of cyber security surrounding business operations, including product security and Secure Development Lifecycle. They will be expected to create and foster good relationships with internal and external customers and evidence this in their previous roles. Communication, collaboration and establishing good relationships is critical to the success of this role.

An understanding of technologies and frameworks used in NEC is essential, as is a good understanding of the business needs for each of the business units, including hosted systems and cloud operations.

Essential knowledge:

  • Overall understanding of the NECSWS business units
  • ISMS, ISO27001
  • DevSecOps principles
  • Secure Development Lifecycle
  • General good all round knowledge of cyber security
  • Experience in presenting and chairing meetings
  • Currently holding, or eligible for MOD SC and NPPV3

Our ideal candidate will be Hybrid Office based for this role, with 50% from home, and the rest from any of our Office locations.

OTHER INFORMATION

Candidates must be able to demonstrate a pre-existing right to work and travel within the UK. Documentary evidence will be required.

All offers are subject to satisfactory vetting and reference checks.  Candidates must be security cleared (or able to gain clearance) to MOD SC and Non Police Personnel Vetting Level 3 (NPPV).
