Our Client, based in Petersfield, is seeking an experienced, hands-on IT Director to act as a key member of the board as well as lead and manage their sophisticated IT environment. This is a critical leadership role that sits on the board and is central to aligning their digital infrastructure with the company’s strategic growth plans. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day IT operations, managing system development, and future-proofing their technology landscape.

Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

Define and execute a clear 1–3 year IT strategic roadmap aligned with the business strategy, growth objectives and operational priorities.

Establish a structured approach to managing the full lifecycle of existing and future software systems, ensuring all platforms remain scalable, secure, and aligned with business needs.

Take full ownership of the company’s digital and IT infrastructure.

Lead and mentor the IT team to ensure a high-performing, service-oriented department.

Operational Excellence

Manage and optimise day-to-day IT operations across hardware, software, infrastructure, networking, and cybersecurity.

Ensure the team are achieving the daily KPI’s and deadlines are being achieved

Ensure uptime, security, and performance of all systems and platforms.

Monitor and control IT budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships.

Infrastructure & Systems Development

Oversee ongoing development and integration of systems across departments (ERP, CRM, WMS, etc.).

Ensure all systems are interconnected, well-maintained, and scalable.

Identify and implement technological improvements that drive operational efficiency and reduce complexity.

Process & Documentation

Create a comprehensive documentation framework for all IT systems, processes, and workflows.

Ensure key knowledge is recorded, maintained, and accessible—no more "in people’s heads."

Future-Proofing & Innovation

Evaluate new technologies and trends to keep the business ahead of the curve.

Take end-to-end ownership of the organisation’s IT security, data protection, and resilience strategies, including disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and compliance with relevant regulatory and industry standards.

Design and implement scalable solutions that support business expansion and digital innovation.

Requirements

Significant experience in senior IT leadership roles, ideally as IT Director.

Strong background in B2B distribution, wholesale, or similar industries.

A demonstrable record of hands-on involvement in both technical and leadership capacities.

Deep understanding of enterprise IT architecture and infrastructure.

Experience managing and integrating systems such as ERP, CRM, WMS, EDI, etc.

Sound knowledge of cybersecurity, cloud computing, and network systems.

Leadership & Business Acumen

Experience working at board level with an ability to align IT with business goals.

A practical, sleeves-rolled-up approach with a high level of accountability and ownership.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Strategic thinker with a passion for efficiency and process improvement.

Adept at simplifying complex systems and streamlining workflows.

Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Change management experience and a collaborative leadership style.

Benefits

Salary- £90,000- £105,000 Basic

Profit related bonus

Car Allowance

Matched Pension

Monday- Friday 08.00am- 17.00pm (Can be flexible)

1 day per week working from home
