We are looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our team, to take responsibility and accountability for the smooth running of Sargent-Disc’s computer systems. This is a proactive and reactive role within a fast paced environment. We are looking for candidates with a passion for networking and a desire to grow their skillset in other areas including Redhat Linux and SAN technology.

Main duties to include:

  • To maintain the company’s DR infrastructure including performing scheduled testing

  • To monitor key systems to ensure availability and capacity requirements are met

  • Implement and manage network security policies, including VPNs, Firewalls, and intrusion prevention systems

  • Manage and maintain network documentation, configurations, and processes iin line with regulatory and compliance standards

  • Be responsible for the scheduling and prioritisation of I&O tasks and the allocation of resources to complete those tasks within given timescales

  • Perform regular systems updates, patching and vulnerability assessments

  • Work with cybersecurity team, Head of IT, C.I.S.O & Directors

    This role requires a proven skillset and experience with the below criteria.

    Person Specification and experience:

    Essential

  • Strong experience of network configuration and management

  • Experience of firewall configuration and management

  • CCNA/CCNP certified or equivalent (experience of Netgate firewalls)

  • Switch management (stacked/edge switches)

  • RHEL / CentOS Linux Servers (SAMBA /Apache/Wildfly)

  • ISCSI SAN Technologies

  • Clustered virtualised environment (based on Xenserver or Xcp-ng)

  • Splunk Logserver

  • System monitoring

  • Microsoft AD and Remote Desktop Services (W2019)

  • Experience of Bash scripting

  • Experience of networking, especially Netgate 7100/8300 pfSense Plus appliances

  • Proven working experience or relevant experience

  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems

  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation

  • ITIL experience

    Desirable

  • MySQL, MSSQL and Postgres databases

  • Mailserver (M365/Exchange)

  • Container based infrastructure (Docker / Kubernetes

  • IP Based PBX and phone system

  • Linux certifications

  • Experience of Cloud based environments (AWS)

  • Dell server hardware
