Information Security Officer - Operational Technology | Critical Infrastructure | North West | Hybrid | £Competitive + Excellent Benefits

I'm currently working with a major organisation operating in a highly regulated, mission-critical environment to recruit an Information Security Officer with a focus on Operational Technology (OT). This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking team driving cyber resilience across industrial systems and critical infrastructure.

As the Information Security Officer - OT, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining security posture across complex OT environments. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, ensuring policy compliance, managing risks, and supporting incident response activities across key business functions.

💼 The Role:

Act as a trusted advisor to business units on all matters of OT security.

Support the development and maintenance of security policies and ensure alignment with national/international frameworks (NIST, IEC 62443, ISO27001, etc.).

Lead on cyber risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, and compliance reviews.

Assist in incident investigations and ensure lessons learned are captured and implemented.

Help drive the security compliance schedule and contribute to audit, supplier, and project reviews from a security perspective.

Translate complex security threats into business risks and provide clear guidance to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

🧠 What We're Looking For:

Solid experience in an information security, cyber risk, or compliance role within IT/OT environments.

Proven exposure to Operational Technology systems (e.g., ICS, SCADA).

Industry-recognised certifications: CISSP, CRISC, CompTIA Security+, Network+, etc.

Strong working knowledge of NIST, IEC 62443, and ideally ISO27001 audit processes.

Background in regulated sectors such as utilities, energy, or critical infrastructure is highly advantageous.

A confident communicator with the ability to influence and advise at all levels.

💡 Why This Role?

This is more than just a compliance role-it's a chance to make a tangible impact on the resilience of essential systems that affect millions. You'll be part of a collaborative, growing cyber resilience team that is serious about security and backed by board-level support.

If you're passionate about OT security, want to work in a fast-evolving and meaningful space, and are ready to take ownership of policy, risk, and advisory work in a critical infrastructure setting-we want to hear from you.

Quantum-Enhanced AI in Cyber Security: Guarding the Digital Frontier

The cyber security landscape has evolved dramatically over the past decade. Long gone are the days when businesses primarily worried about simplistic phishing or basic website defacements. Today’s threats include nation-state attacks, sophisticated ransomware, AI-generated phishing campaigns, and a wide array of stealthy intrusion methods. Organisations must defend vast digital ecosystems that include cloud infrastructure, IoT devices, and critical operational technology—any of which can become high-value targets for malicious actors. Amid these escalating challenges, a new technological wave is emerging: quantum computing. Although still in its infancy, quantum computing promises capabilities that could surpass even the most advanced classical supercomputers for specific tasks. Simultaneously, in the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI)—where data volumes and model complexity are exploding—quantum’s parallelism could significantly boost analysis, training, and decision-making. What unfolds when quantum computing and AI converge in the realm of cyber security? On one hand, quantum technologies could introduce stronger encryption and faster threat detection. On the other, adversaries armed with quantum power might break today’s cryptographic protocols or develop more potent attacks at unimaginable speeds. This article explores the phenomenon of quantum-enhanced AI for cyber security: the possibilities it unlocks, the challenges it poses, and the reasons it could reshape both defensive and offensive operations in the digital world.
