Wagon Fitters - All Mechanical Backgrounds Considered

Location: Cambridgeshire (Peterborough, March, and surrounding areas)
Duration: 12-month contract (potential for permanent opportunities)
Shifts: Sunday to Thursday, 9-hour shifts (45 hours per week)
Pay: £29 per hour (umbrella) / £22.50 per hour (PAYE) + expenses (DOE)

The role:

We are looking for mechanically skilled candidates to carry out wagon maintenance and examinations across Peterborough, March, and nearby sites. This is a field-based role, and while you will generally work within the Midlands and Southeast, you will primarily operate around Peterborough. Work is always completed in pairs.

What to expect when you start:

You will begin at either March or Peterborough. Those starting at March will begin competency training first, then rotate with those from Peterborough.
After a successful interview, you will need to complete a drug and alcohol test (likely in Milton Keynes - costs covered).
In your first week, you will attend a paid PTS (Personal Track Safety) course provided by the company.
Once competency training is complete, you will receive a company van and work in a paired team across your assigned territory.

Key responsibilities:

Carrying out reactive and preventative maintenance
Performing wagon examinations (full training provided)
Assisting with slinging and lifting when required
Working primarily outdoors in all weather conditions
Potential lodging required once fully competent
What we're looking for:

A strong mechanical background (all industries considered)
NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical discipline (preferred but not essential)
Full UK driving licence
Previous experience with wagons or rolling stock is beneficial but not required - full training provided
Flexibility to travel, with Peterborough and March as primary bases
Comfortable working outdoors in various conditions
