Capital M&E are actively seeking a Fire & Security engineer to join our team.

We are an established electrical contractor with a growing Fire & Security division. Our clients include Healthcare establishments both public & private , Veterinary practices, Educational settings, Commercial & Retail.

No two days will be the same, This role will require ability/willingness to work on Projects, Service & Breakdowns as required. But currently there is no need for yourself to be added to an on-call Rota.

Role Overview:
This role involves the installation, commissioning, service, and reactive maintenance of fire and electronic security systems in line with relevant British standards. The ideal candidate will have technical proficiency in a range of systems, including addressable and conventional fire alarms, IP CCTV, access control, and intruder detection.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Install and commission fire and security systems (e.g., Advanced, C-Tec, Galaxy, Texecom, Hikvision, Paxton)

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive fault diagnosis

  • Ensure all works comply with BS5839, BS5266, BS EN50131, and relevant Health & Safety legislation

  • Interpret system schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams

  • Accurately document all work completed, including job sheets, test certificates, and risk assessments

  • Liaise with clients, project director, and other stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are met

  • Accurately fill put job cards/reports on a smartphone/iPad.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in fire and/or electronic security systems engineering

  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across both fire detection and security platforms

  • Familiarity with networking and IP-based security devices

  • Competent with commissioning and programming of panels and peripheral devices

  • Full UK driving licence (clean preferred)

  • ECS/CSCS card and relevant qualifications (e.g., FIA Units 1-4, City & Guilds, or equivalent)

  • Strong understanding of applicable standards: BS 5839-1, BS 7671, PD 6662, etc.

  • Ability to work autonomously and manage workload across multiple sites

  • Willingness to work away if required (Minimal, But like to be up front)

  • Willingness to help on electrical projects if required by the business

  • Ability to pass Enhanced DBS Check & Security Screening

Desirable:

  • Manufacturer training certifications (e.g., Advanced, Kentec, Hikvision, Texecom, Galaxy, etc.)

  • Knowledge of integrated systems and BMS interfaces

  • Experience with remote monitoring platforms and cloud-based access/CCTV solutions
