Thrive Oldham are recruiting for an Electrician in the Bolton area

Main Duties

1

Carry out maintenance and construction work on public electrical apparatus relating to the highway.

Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation and all statutory obligations relevant to projects assigned, including adhering to BS 7671 IEE Regulation for electrical installations.

Understand, maintain and complete all documentation as required by the specification.

Assist in ensuring full compliance with procedures relating to the Operator Licence for vehicles and plant assigned to the role.

Work at heights from hydraulic platforms, ladders or scaffold at heights up to 15 metres.

Drive / operate vehicles, plant and equipment associated with the role and carry out relevant maintenance.

Be self-motivated to work alone or as part of a team, to assist in the maximum utilisation of street lighting equipment, plant and materials, to provide a cost effective best value service.

Develop the work related skills of yourself and other team members.

Carry out such other duties which may be allocated which are commensurate with the grading of the post.

Skills and Knowledge

An in Depth knowledge of Street Lighting Maintenance and / or new works

Ability to diagnose and remedy electrical faults to specification.

Ability to install new external electrical works to specification.

A knowledge of health and safety in electrical works.

Able to interpret detailed drawings and understand electrical networks

Capability to work to deadlines and use initiative.

Ability to work at height in hydraulic platforms and on ladders.

Understand and complete all administration documentation.

Experience/Qualifications/Training etc

Minimum 2 years experience in an engineering / street lighting environment.

Must have or be working to the following certificates; BS7671 IEE Wiring Regulations - 16th Edition, NRSWA, IPAF VM26M Level 2, Category C1

All posts require the job holder to undertake mandatory training for the role and to regularly review their development needs in conjunction with their line manager. Development of our employees plays a key role in delivering our services

Represent the Council, whilst on site and respond to customer queries in a professional manner.

Civil Contingencies

Bolton Council has a statutory duty under the Civil Contingencies Act to respond in the event of an emergency. If Bolton Council's Emergency Management Plan is activated, you may be required to assist in maintaining key Council services and supporting the community. This could require working outside of routine working hours and working from places other than your normal place of work.

Fluency Duty

Should you be required, as a regular and intrinsic part of your role, to speak to members of the public in English, you must be able to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English, as required by The Immigration Act 2016.

Working Hours

The nature and demands of the role are not always predictable and there will be an expectation that work will be required outside of normal hours from time to time.
