Base pay range

Cyber Security Engineer – Birmingham – £45,000–£55,000

We’re working with a growing technology-driven business in Birmingham who are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join their team. You’ll be involved in designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls that protect business-critical systems across cloud and on-premise environments.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Configuring, managing, and optimising security technologies including firewalls, EDR, and SIEM platforms
  • Supporting cloud security across Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 environments
  • Performing vulnerability assessments, patch management, and remediation activities
  • Assisting with incident response and security investigations
  • Working closely with IT and development teams to ensure security best practices are embedded
  • Contributing to security policy, risk assessments, and compliance initiatives (ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials+)

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience in a hands-on cyber security engineering role, ideally with both on-premise and cloud security exposure
  • Strong knowledge of networking, firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Check Point, or similar), and Microsoft 365 security
  • Experience with SIEM and EDR tools
  • Understanding of vulnerability management processes and security frameworks
  • Relevant security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Security Operations, CCNA Security) are an advantage
