About the Role

As Codan’s Cyber Security Administrator – EMEA, you will support the EMEA region with a strong focus on cyber security operations and services. Reporting locally to the IT Lead – EMEA, with a functional reporting line to the Head of Cyber, this role works closely with regional and global teams to ensure secure, reliable, and compliant technology services.

You will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of cyber security platforms, incident triage, vulnerability management, and regional security escalation. The role balances business-as-usual cyber operations with project support and continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to Codan’s global cyber posture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide business-as-usual (BAU) support for cyber security applications, including moves, adds, and changes in line with agreed SLAs.

  • Support and troubleshoot security platforms, including EDR, endpoint patching, web filtering, firewalls, and identity security solutions.

  • Act as the regional escalation point for cyber security incidents and platform issues.

  • Perform security incident triage when required and support investigations and remediation activities.

  • Assist with vulnerability management, risk reporting, and operating system and application patching.

  • Support the delivery of cyber security projects and review broader IT initiatives through a cyber security lens.

  • Monitor cyber security vulnerability and threat intelligence relevant to the EMEA region.

  • Collaborate with global cyber, IT, and business teams to ensure alignment with Codan’s security standards and practices.

    About You

You are a motivated cyber security professional with experience in security operations and platform support, who enjoys working in a global, collaborative environment. With a degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field - or equivalent practical experience - you bring strong technical capability, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

You are comfortable working across geographically dispersed teams and communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You align strongly with Codan’s values of Can Do, High Performing, Customer Driven, and Trust and Integrity, and are eager to contribute to improving cyber security outcomes across the organisation.

The role may require travel and you must hold, or be eligible to obtain, UK Security Clearance.

    Benefits and Culture

Our culture is supportive and collaborative. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team where we share our ideas and innovation is strongly encouraged. We are looking for someone with genuine passion for the job and a “can-do” attitude. Our staff receive:

  • A generous pension plan

Maths for Cyber Security Jobs: The Only Topics You Actually Need (& How to Learn Them)

If you are applying for cyber security jobs in the UK it can feel like “real security people” must be brilliant at maths. The reality is simpler: most roles do not need degree-level pure maths. What they do need is confidence with a small set of practical topics that show up repeatedly in day-to-day work across SOC, incident response, cloud security, AppSec, threat detection, IAM & security engineering. This guide strips the maths down to what actually helps you get hired. It includes a 6-week learning plan plus portfolio projects you can publish to prove the skills. You will focus on: Number systems & bitwise thinking (binary, hex, bytes, XOR) Modular arithmetic basics (enough to understand how modern crypto “works”) Probability & statistics for detection, triage & risk Discrete maths for logic, sets, graphs & complexity Security maths habits: estimation, false positive control & evidence-led reporting You will not waste time on heavy theory that rarely appears in junior or mid-level cyber security roles.

Neurodiversity in Cyber Security Careers: Turning Different Thinking into a Superpower

Cyber security is all about thinking like an attacker, spotting unusual patterns, protecting systems & responding calmly when everything looks like it’s on fire. It’s a discipline built on curiosity, persistence & noticing things other people miss. That’s exactly why it can be such a good fit for many neurodivergent people. If you live with ADHD, autism or dyslexia, you may have been told your brain is “too distracted”, “too literal” or “too disorganised” for a security role. In reality, the traits that can make traditional office work tough often line up beautifully with cyber security work – from hyperfocus in incident response to meticulous analysis in threat hunting. This guide is written for cyber security job seekers in the UK. We’ll look at: What neurodiversity means in a cyber context How ADHD, autism & dyslexia strengths map to different security roles Practical workplace adjustments you can ask for under UK law How to talk about neurodivergence during applications & interviews By the end, you’ll have a clearer sense of where you might thrive in cyber security – & how to turn “different thinking” into a genuine superpower.

Cyber Security Hiring Trends 2026: What to Watch Out For (For Job Seekers & Recruiters)

As we move into 2026, the cyber security jobs market in the UK is changing fast. Attackers are scaling up with automation & AI, cloud estates are more complex, & regulators are tightening expectations around resilience & data protection. At the same time, budgets are under pressure & some organisations are consolidating their tech teams. Despite all this, demand for cyber security skills remains strong. Skilled defenders, engineers & leaders are still hard to find, & the stakes are only getting higher. Whether you are a cyber security job seeker planning your next move, or a recruiter building security teams, understanding the key cyber security hiring trends for 2026 will help you make better decisions.
