Job Description - CNC Miller / Setter / Operator

At Ultra I&C's Communications business, we are keen to recruit an individual with solid CNC experience to join our team in Tring.

Our ideal candidate will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC Milling Machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications, working in our new, clean, air-conditioned machine shop.

Additionally, the ideal candidate must also have experience in running CNC Lathes to produce precision components. This includes knowledge of programming, setting up, and operating VMC's using CAM software and G-Code.

Benefits include a 9-day fortnight working pattern.

Key Responsibilities - CNC Miller / Setter / Operator

  • Create and implement machining strategies and action plans, as directed by the Machine Shop Team Leader, to ensure that the manufacturing facility supports the business strategic objectives.

  • Manufacture products and work with engineering to provide input to new developments and legacy products.

  • Work within a small, multi-disciplined team, operating and maintaining the equipment with focus on operating CNC Mills and lathes.

  • From time-to-time work on Milling machines as required

  • Interpret engineering drawings to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished work piece.

  • Be able to sequence operations, tooling, programming and setup requirements to manufacture components efficiently.

  • Liaise with Quality on non-conformance & suggest resolution activities.

  • Maintain batch traceability on raw material delivered and usage on Shop Orders.

  • Ability to recognize, solve & implement required changes for machining related problems.

  • Work in co-operation with Manufacturing team to ensure product meets the agreed standard.

  • Ensure that production documentation is kept up-to-date, accurate and legible.

  • Manage security of information as defined in the Information Security Policy.

  • Opportunity to offline programming using CAM software in the future

    Essential Skills:

    CNC Lathe and Milling Machine Programming, Setting & Operating

    Familiar with speeds and feeds for Aluminium and Stainless Steel

    Understanding of programming languages FANUC, ProtoTRAK, G-Code

    Desirable Skills:

    Haas/XYZ/Bridgeport Machine Experience

    Manual Turning & Milling

    Use of 3D Modelling software (Solidworks HSM or Fusion 360 or OneCNC)

    Basic CMM experience

    Security Clearance:

  • Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain BPSS level security clearance
