Role purpose

LRQA Seafood's Technical Managers are primarily responsible for ensuring the technical quality of services delivered by LRQA’s seafood team.

Core duties include:

Ensuring the technical competence and performance of aquaculture and supply chain auditors including by conducting technical and certification reviews and witness audits. Working with the Service Delivery Manager to contribute to the sourcing, onboarding, training, and performance review of auditors and to address technical aspects of auditor performance including any required re-training. Be subject matter expert for seafood within LRQA.

Additional duties include:

Performing seafood audits as required to maintain competence to perform core duties. Client relationship management for key seafood clients as required. Use sectoral knowledge to input into development and growth of LRQA seafood.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, ensure and manage the technical competence and performance of seafood (excluding fishery) auditors; this will generally consist of performing Technical and Certification reviews and Witness audits as required to validate auditor competence. A linked responsibility is to achieve and maintain a low no. of customer or scheme owner complaints or accreditation body NCs related to auditor competence/quality. Work with the Service Delivery Manager to contribute to the sourcing, onboarding, training, and performance review of contracted and employed auditors and to address technical aspects of auditor performance including any required re-training. Support and develop in-house training to maintain and improve auditor competence. Be a subject matter expert for aquaculture and seafood supply chain within LRQA including: Developing and maintaining a thorough understanding of relevant scheme requirements ( BAP. Global GAP, ASC, MSC (ASC) COC). Participating in Standard Owner meetings and/or Accreditation Body audits as required. Taking part in ongoing training as required to maintain appropriate competence and technical understanding. Providing technical direction to non-technical teams/colleagues. Achieve and maintain professional statuses as required to deliver required core role functions, including auditing as required to maintain competence to perform core duties. May provide additional auditing capacity/cover but spending significant time auditing should not be considered the ‘norm’. Client relationship management for key seafood clients as required.
