What is the Opportunity?

Joining a world-class Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) as a Sr. Manager of Monitoring & Triage for the United Kingdom presents an exciting and challenging opportunity to lead at the forefront of cybersecurity operations.

This role is central to ensuring the security and resilience of the organization's critical assets and data, making it a pivotal position in RBC’s overall threat management framework.

The successful candidate will be contributing meaningfully to the ever-evolving field of cybersecurity, providing protection at a Global scale while driving innovation and excellence in Triage and Threat Management. This role also partners with Global Security Leadership/Executives and Business lines to achieve the goals of monitoring, analyzing and triaging security incidents.

What will you do?

  • Continuously develop a high-performance technical monitoring team, coordinate the monitoring of event lifecycle, develop, and maintain the workflows and processes for security event detection and participate in the overall effort to reduce security risks in the organization.
  • Provide the first line supervision of direct report employees in the Triage team, maintaining performance tracking and training plan.
  • Manage workload and priorities of the team, ensuring urgent events are addressed in priority.
  • Provide 7/24/365 support for urgent security issues.
  • Oversee the effort to triage security events, promptly escalating high severity alerts to the Incident Response team and management where appropriate. Also to manage the effort to continuously reduce false positives within the monitoring workflow.
  • Develop and maintain the monitoring processes and procedures according to the ever-changing environment ensuring operational efficiencies.
  • React quickly by adjusting the priorities according to the threat landscape and leveraging the best resources and tools for accurate detection.
  • Develop and maintain lines of communication with Global Security leadership.
  • Provide guidance to the Triage team members in alert management and coordinate with the Detection Engineering and Defensive Threat Operations Teams to implement new monitoring capabilities and automate responses for high fidelity detections.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Extensive experience in Triage, Incident Response or Crisis Management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence through expertise, relationship building, and value delivery.
  • Ability to work in a complex, fast paced and rapidly changing business environment.
  • Thorough understanding of SIEM technology and security related controls (Firewalls, Proxies, IDS/IPS, WAF, NDR/EDR).
  • Experience with Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR) products.
  • Leads by example by embracing RBC values (service, teamwork, responsibility, diversity, integrity) and ensuring employees are motivated to make decisions in the best interests of RBC and our clients.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and lead teams.
  • Ability to interact effectively with stakeholders, auditors and build relationships across a large organization.

  • Detail-oriented, operationally savvy, and action-oriented individual who continually strives for improvement.

Nice-to-have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT related disciplines or relevant experience.
  • Industry recognized certifications (CISSP, GCIA, GCIH, GREM, GCFA).
  • Experience in working within a large, global financial services company.
