At Adur & Worthing Councils we are committed to safeguarding the privacy and security of our customers' data. As forward-thinking Councils, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Data Protection and Information Officer to lead on all aspects of the access to information regime, including processing and responding to information requests, advising on the availability of exemptions, monitoring and reporting on the Councils’ performance.
You will be the Councils’ designated Data Protection Officer ensuring that the Councils comply with:-
General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Data Audits: Conduct regular data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and audits to identify risks and ensure that data processing activities comply with legal requirements. Training & Awareness: Design and deliver training programs to raise awareness of data protection practices among employees and foster a culture of privacy within the Councils. Incident Management: Lead the response to data breaches or incidents, ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to mitigate risks and notify relevant authorities within the required timelines. Advisory Role: Provide expert advice to senior management, employees, and stakeholders on data protection issues, ensuring that new projects and initiatives are designed with privacy in mind. Data Subject Requests: Oversee and manage data subject access requests (DSARs) to ensure timely and compliant responses to individuals exercising their data rights. Liaison: with data protection authorities and coordinate with legal teams on issues related to data protection as appropriate
