ThePrivacy Specialist Role

Working as part of a wider Legal global department, the successful candidate will join the global Qlik privacy team, reporting to Qlik’s Data Protection Officer. This role will involve working on cutting-edge technology and legal (privacy, information security and AI) issues, critical for Qlik’s compliance and its Go-To-Market.

This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term maternity cover role, with the potential to transform into a permanent position. The role may be fully remote for the right candidate, though is ideally performed 3-days per week remote, 2-days in the office (London (Bank) or Winnersh).

Here’s how you’ll be making an impact:

Privacy Program Management: be the point-of-contact for maintaining Qlik’s privacy program assets, including its ROPA, notice and policies. Customer: Negotiate customer DPAs. Partner with the business to develop and leverage Privacy as a “Go-To-Market” differentiator. Supplier Reviews: Be the point-of-contact for supplier privacy reviews, utilizing the OneTrust 3rd Party Risk platform. Partner with the business to conduct privacy-impact-assessments and provide implementation advice, such as regarding data access and retention, in particular in relation to supplier SaaS solutions. Negotiating supplier DPAs. Business Partnering: partner across the entire business to deliver practical privacy advice and training, in particular for the Marketing department, being the main point of contact on web and AdTech privacy issues such as cookies and marketing consents. Compliance: Monitor for emerging privacy, information security (e.g., NIS 2) and AI (e.g., EU AI Act) laws around the world, in particular for EMEA and APAC, conducting gap analyses and working with the business to implement any required changes. Identify privacy risk areas within the business and drive projects to minimise these, including around data access and retention. Lead on or assist as needed with regular, recurring privacy tasks, such as transfer impact assessments. Other: Liaise with Information Security, such as on investigations. Conduct privacy audits and deal with any follow-up to ensure best practice. Liaise with regulators (e.g., Data Protection Authorities) and outside counsel, as needed. Assist with data subject access requests and data breach procedures. Deal with any ad-hoc projects relating to privacy, information security and/or AI laws.

We’re looking for a teammate with:

Required:

University graduate (law degree). Applicants with other degree types will be considered if they have undertaken law conversion or other legal courses. 12+ months experience in privacy / data protection and managing a privacy program. Good working knowledge of the GDPR. Exposure to data protection agreements. A pragmatic approach, taking advice and turning it into solution-building. A pro-active approach to identify risk areas and willingness to drive projects to help mitigate these. Enthusiasm to flex beyond the privacy world, developing your skills to advise in relation to information security as well as AI laws. Good communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills. Good team player.

Preferred:

Familiarity with the OneTrust 3rd Party Risk platform. Exposure to international privacy laws. In-house international tech company experience. An interest in technology, in particular SaaS and AI. Foreign language capability. Experience supervising outside counsel.

Training:

The company will sponsor the successful candidate to complete relevant IAPP courses and exams, such as CIPP/E, CIPM and/or AIGP.
