About the role

We are in search of a dedicated Manufacturing Systems Engineer with expertise in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to join our Digital Technology Technical Services team. 


This post will play a vital role in supporting and enhancing the integration, operation, and maintenance of MES within our manufacturing environment as well supporting users, and other areas from Technical Services when required. This position requires a deep understanding of MES software platforms, along with strong problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and optimize production processes.

Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) software, ensuring seamless integration with existing manufacturing infrastructure. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement MES functionality, including production scheduling, workflow management, and data analytics. Lead and coordinate the MES roll out, managing the project across all stake holders.  Provide technical support and troubleshooting for MES-related issues, diagnosing and resolving software bugs, configuration errors, and integration challenges based on ITIL methodology. Develop and maintain OPC servers, clients, and interfaces to facilitate real-time data exchange between disparate systems. Conduct regular audits and performance assessments of MES functionality, identifying opportunities for optimisation and improvement. Customise MES software configurations and workflows to meet the specific needs of different manufacturing departments and production lines. Coordinate with software vendors and IT specialists to implement software updates, patches, and enhancements to the MES platform. Develop and maintain documentation for MES configurations, standard operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides. Collaborate with IT security professionals to implement and maintain cybersecurity measures to protect MES data and systems.

Key Skills

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred. Experience in technical support or implementation of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in MES software platforms. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and workflows, with the ability to translate business requirements into MES solutions. Experience with database systems (SQL, Oracle) and programming languages (Java, C#, Python) is advantageous. Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex software and integration issues. Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Strong ability to diagnose and resolve MES software and integration issues. Meticulous in configuring, testing, documenting, and delivering high-quality technical support. Flexible in dynamic environments; effective in prioritising tasks and managing multiple projects. Committed to ongoing learning of MES technology and industry practices, strong understanding of safety protocols. Willingness to travel occasionally for on-site support and training engagements, as required.
