A public sector organisation is recruiting an Informationernance and Data Protection Officer. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the organisation'spliance with data protection regulations and fostering a culture of privacy. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to assess, implement, and manage data protection measures and policies.

Your new role

Serve as primary point of contact for all data protection and privacy-related matters. Liaise with regulatory authorities and act as the organisation's representative for privacy matters and lead incident response efforts in the event of data breaches or privacy incidents. Raise awareness of and promote a positive data protection culture including training of staff. Advise business areas on requirements of the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 and the risks associated with data processing operations, considering the nature, scope, context and purposes of the processing. Take a lead on systems transformation to optimise the management and secure storage and retrieval of data and corporate information through, for example, the migration to Content Manager and other such corporate initiatives in line with best practice. Take a lead role in assisting business areas in implementing appropriate data sharing agreements with external partners and stakeholder organisations and assess data sharing agreements from other parties Review and update the data protection,ernance and information assurance policies and provide training to staff as required. Lead on and quality assure the administration of responses to and disclosure of all requests in accordance with statutory deadlines and advise on moreplex requests. Review, update and monitor records management and retention to ensure fit for purpose andpliance with relevant legislation and best practice. Facilitate the monthly, quarterly, six-monthly and annual review and update of the Corporate Risk Register Support with information updates for the organisation’s Risk Management Strategy.

What you'll need to succeed

A degree in a related specialist discipline or equivalent experience. Desirable - Data Protection Officer certification.

A minimum of three years:NI Public sector datapliance experience, preferably gained within a regulatory environment.Experience ofplex data protection impact assessments.Experience of supportingernance projects to improve records management activities.Demonstrable experience in managing GDPR, FOI, SAR and EIR requests withinpliant timescales.It would also be desirable to have practical knowledge / ability to interpret legislation andprehendplex decision notices
