As the Global Crisis Communications Specialist / Manager for Hitachi Energy, you will be working in a hands-on and operational role with responsibility for handling the communications related to incidents to mitigate potential impact for the company and affected stakeholders. You will also handle global crisis communications matters to safeguard company reputation in sensitive or crisis situations. You will report to the Global Head of Public Relations and Content Strategy and work closely with the Crisis Management team in Hitachi Energy and our Head of Crisis Management. In your role, you will also work with the PR & Content team outside of incidents / crisis periods.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for all global incident and crisis communications activities in close cooperation with the crisis management team. This includes anticipation, planning, execution, and follow-up of all crisis communication activities, both internally and externally.

Coordinate communication efforts across different departments and stakeholders during incidents and crisis situations. Manage internal and external communications to ensure consistent messaging, and conducting post-crisis communications evaluations.

Develop comprehensive crisis communications plans and protocols, and identify potential risks and vulnerabilities.

Identify and remain at the forefront of emerging trends relating to the breadth of topics to pre-empt and inform response to potential crisis.

Manage crisis communication guidance, processes, activities to safeguard company’s reputation in close collaboration with crisis team members, Head of Communications, Head of Public Relations and Content Strategy, and Head of Crisis Management.

Responsible for global crisis communication tool and further build out related processes, templates and trainings.

Provide crisis communication trainings to the local management teams and communication colleagues.

Regularly update and evaluate the effectiveness (outcomes and activities) of crisis communication activities against agreed objectives and KPIs, including monitoring and timely reports.

Write and review playbooks, statements, QAs in alignment with the key messaging during high pressure situations

Ensure smooth information flow and close alignment with internal crisis team members

Build and maintain strong and trusted relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

Work with the global PR & content team to support daily activities (e.g media, content, special projects) outside of incidents / crisis periods.

Requirements:

Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business, Marketing or other relevant related discipline.

Proven experience of global experience in communications with specialization in crisis, media and content

Experience with the energy, technology sector

Experience in crisis communications related to cybersecurity incidents is preferred

Proven track record of cross functional communication skills

Understanding of relevant media and communication channels

Extensive experience in managing complex projects with multiple resources and stakeholders with ability to work under pressure to meet demanding deadlines.

Exceptional English writing skills with ability to research, write, fact-check, and edit a variety of communication pieces for target audiences with minimal supervision.
