We are therefore strengthening our senior digital leadership team starting with the new appointment to the vacancy of Chief Information Officer (CIO) to drive this important agenda forward.

Reporting to Mo Hussain, Group Strategy and Digital Officer, As the CIO, you will shape the development and implementation of our strategic vision for data and digital services including Core IM&T (operations), Digital Health, Informatics, and IM&T development functions.

Main duties of the job

Having management responsibility for circa 800 staff and an operational pay budget circa 30m, you will lead and empower colleagues to improve both staff and patient experience whilst supporting our teams in the delivery of first-class care to the communities that rely on us. As a strategic leader, you will also work with colleagues across the Birmingham and Solihull ICS to ensure that our patients and teams have a seamless user experience allowing, us to be as productive and as effective as possible and that value from technology adoption is realised.

We would welcome applications from experienced CIOs, but with your significant experience as a digital leader, ideally gained within the NHS or a similar complex organisation, you will be a creative and inspiring leader who's not afraid to push the boundaries technology offers whilst instilling confidence in the day to day operational management of our digital services.

Qualifications

Essential

*Educated to master's level, an equivalent professional qualification, or demonstrable equivalent experience, within an IT discipline or similar. *Demonstrable professional knowledge in Digital Management, Information Systems, Staff Management, and Project Management acquired through training or experience gained over a significant period to master's degree level. *Demonstrable continuing professional development.

*Extensive experience in information management, data governance, and health informatics within large and complex organisation. *Experience in developing and implementing information strategies and leading digital transformation initiatives. *Proven ability to manage complex information systems and ensure data quality, security, and compliance. *Strong understanding of healthcare data standards (, HL7, FHIR) and interoperability challenges. *Experience with information governance, risk management, and compliance with healthcare regulations (, GDPR, HIPAA). *Deep understanding of healthcare information systems, data structures, and data management principles. *Knowledge of information governance frameworks, data privacy regulations, and cybersecurity best practices in healthcare.

Desirable

*Familiarity with data analytics, business intelligence, and the application of data insights to improve healthcare outcomes. *Extensive experience in information management, data governance, and health informatics within a large NHS or comparable healthcare setting. *Highly specialised relevant and in-depth knowledge and experience of Enterprise Architecture and IT functionalities in the NHS or other Public Sector Organisation. *Experience of implementing large scale EHR/PAS applications *Proven record of delivering high quality IT services within the NHS to both clinical and non-clinical users. *Demonstrable senior fiscal management experience for large and multiple IT departments. *Experience of representing an NHS organisation at regional and national meetings.
