Established in 2008, we import a range of 80+ superfoods direct from growers around the world and sell them under our own brands, in bulk, direct to consumers via Retailers/Amazon and as private label. Location: Office based in Dinnington, Sheffield

Contract: 12 month fixed term contract


Purpose of the role

As Site Technical Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, legality, and quality of our products is maintained across all operations. You will oversee all technical aspects of a packing facility, ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards, managing a team of technical personnel, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize product quality and operational efficiency while adhering to relevant regulations and customer specifications. This is a hands-on role requiring close collaboration with various teams, including sourcing, development and operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain and implement all systems, policies and procedures relating to the company technical function including quality, safety, and environment ensuring fit for purpose
  • Oversee the factory technical function, support the implementation and maintenance of the Technical and Quality Standards across the site
  •  Lead and develop the technical team, building capability and succession for the future
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration to ensure food safety and quality are everyone's responsibility
  • Assist the Head of Technical to implement and deliver the site food safety culture plan, through training, briefings and tool box talks
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and industry certifications
  • Oversee the approval and monitoring programmes of new and existing suppliers
  • Oversee the Pest Control Management
  • Provide technical and legal advice on products labelling and packaging requirements
  • Be the gate keeper for the company HACCP procedure and all technical documentation requirements
  • Focus on decision-making, process improvement, R&D and technical project delivery
  • Coordinate with the Quality Assurance Manager to align technical activities with compliance and quality standards
  • Coordinate and participate in investigations of food safety and quality incidents
  • Measure, trend, and report against internal and customer KPIs to ensure continuous improvement
  • Liaise with and facilitate visits and audits from customers, accreditation bodies and regulatory bodies
  • Work collaboratively and support the senior technical manager to provide customer technical support & respond to customer technical queries promptly
  • Carry out and communicate to the wider team, technical research for purpose of building product knowledge and horizon scanning emerging risks


About You:

  • Food Science or relevant field degree (or equivalent experience).
  • HACCP Level 4
  • Food Safety Level 4
  • Lead auditor training
  • Proven experience within a similar Technical or Quality Assurance Management role in a food manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of BRCGS, Organic standards and retailers code of practice
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Critical decision making under pressure
  • Ability to form good working relationships with all stakeholders, internal and external
  • Good numerical and data management skills
