Join Police Digital Service as a Senior DevSecOps Engineer - 2 roles available. Starting salary £60,000 per annum

The Senior DevSecOps Engineers will be responsible for the design, build, deploy and maintenance of key technology platforms that support stronger cyber security outcomes for national policing applications and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working as part of a dedicated and flexible team, you will play a key role in helping to protect front-line policing from cyber-attacks.
  • Build, Run and Maintain solutions that deliver cyber security capabilities into wider development processes
  • Build, Run and Maintain integrations with existing toolsets for enhancements and enrichments
  • Drive continual improvement initiatives for deployed applications and platforms
  • Act as a subject matter expert and point of escalation for other members of the DevSecOps Team
  • Ensure developed applications and platforms are aligned with Secure by Design and Secure Software Development Lifecycle principles, practices, and processes
  • Ensure documentation is relevant, effective and up-to-date
  • Foster a true ‘DevSecOps’ culture across the team and wider organisation

What you need to succeed in the role

  • Demonstrable proficiency in the following:
  • o Python,
  • o PowerShell / Bash scripting,
  • o Bicep/Terraform,
  • Demonstrable understanding and experience of secure application development, infrastructure as code, microservices & containerisation
  • Experience and relevant certification in cloud services design and administration - Azure
  • Experience working with Git-based repositories and CI/CD pipelines
  • Initiative and the ability to produce quality work without close supervision
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, particularly in relation to technical subjects
  • Attention to detail and genuine passion for maintaining high quality software configurations

Working Arrangements

You will benefit from hybrid working, getting the advantages of both face-to-face team engagement and home working. Employees have the opportunity to work in our modern office environment for in-person collaboration, however you will also get the opportunity to work from home 2 days a week.

Please note that in Q3 of 2025, we will be relocating to offices in the Wigan area.

All applicants must be eligible to undergo NPPV3 (Non Police Personnel Vetting Level 3 )and SC vetting clearances. Successful applicants will require NPPV3 clearance to have been cleared before starting with PDS.
