Senior Deal Manager

What you do

The main purpose of this role is ultimately to ensure that the company wins and effectively implements profitable commercial deals, by delivering top-notch responses to tenders which exceed the expectations of the prospective client, and ensuring strict project management discipline when onboarding the client. This requires excellent coordination of multiple stakeholders, mastery of our products and value proposition across business lines, as well as an understanding of our operational and digital capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate and manage the response to new deal opportunities, engaging with stakeholders across multiple functions and teams to develop compelling and workable solutions for business partners and their customers
  • Manage the deal sign-off process, ensuring commercial terms released to partners have received all proper approvals
  • Project manage the local implementation of successful new business wins (non-IT related)
  • Maintain close collaboration with GSP and GCS global sales teams to identify any new opportunities that have a UK & Ireland footprint, and co-ordinate the inputs required from the local UK & Ireland teams to support the deal
  • Leverage Allianz Partners’ global capability and unique insights to design and deliver best-in-class solutions for clients across core markets of assistance, mobility and travel
  • Liaise and communicate with all areas of the business (either based locally or across borders) to ensure that good relationships are maintained and that key information and best practice is exchanged on a regular basis.
  • Represent the UK and Ireland BU at relevant group meetings and seminars as deemed appropriate.
  • Where required, attend client meetings and tender pitches to present and discuss proposed solutions
  • Engagement with Allianz Partners respective outsource agencies as and when required.
  • Maintain awareness of key industry developments and trends, and take these into consideration when designing solutions for clients, in close cooperation with the Product and Innovation teams.
  • Gather detailed feedback on any unsuccessful bids and share with wider teams to understand how we can improve our activities going forward.

You will also be responsible for the following:

  • Quality Management System - To work as a member of a team within the quality system and follow all documented quality procedures and instructions.
  • Training - To advise your Line Manager of any areas of work for which you require any additional training.
  • Key Performance Areas - To work towards achieving 100% on all Company, departmental, team and individual key performance targets.
  • Appraisals - Participate and contribute towards individual annual appraisals, team meetings and regular one-to-one assessment sessions.
  • General:
  • To manage or assist with relevant ad-hoc projects as required by your Line Manager.
  • Complete all appropriate administration.
  • Carry out any other additional duties as requested by your Line Manager from time to time within the scope of your role.
  • Regulatory - To work within and be compliant at all times with all relevant regulations and legislation applicable to the role, including but not limited to those set by the Central Bank.
  • Health & Safety
  • To ensure that your work area is kept safe and tidy at all times.
  • To abide by the Health & Safety regulations.
  • To notify the Company Health & Safety officer or the CEO of any Health & Safety issues which may cause harm to fellow employees.

What you bring

Education and Experience

  • Degree level qualification, ideally including Business, Marketing, Communications or Finance
  • Strong sales and distribution experience
  • Proven project management experience, Project Management certification desirable (but not essential)
  • Experience of working in a complex organization or as part of a matrix structure
  • Experience of working in the B2B and/or B2B2C channels within the insurance / assistance industry
  • Experience of managing complex change programmes within a regulated general insurance environment
  • Experience in Insurance and / or assistance is essential

Skills and knowledge:

  • Strong working knowledge across multiple parts of the insurance value chain (inc. product, underwriting, pricing, sales, and operations)
  • Well versed in commercial negotiation
  • Highly commercial and at ease with complex financial analysis
  • Evidence of the ability to work on numerous projects simultaneously and to meet strict deadlines
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills, comfortable in engaging and delivering professional presentations to multiple stakeholders including to executive level
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and build credibility and trust with other Departments
  • Highly organized with good administration skills and ability to be analytical to support decision making
  • Advanced PC skills – inc. PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outloo
