In this unique role, you will be responsible for management of our growing Apprentices Program, ensuring the successful development and integration of our Cybersecurity Apprentices. This is an exciting Leadership role with significant impact on talent development within Amazon Security. You will be responsible for overseeing a new team of motivated and talented apprentices, defining their growth trajectory and guiding their onboarding, training, and professional development to help them transition into full-time engineering roles. As an owner of this team, you will have the autonomy to shape the team's impact, and your success will be assessed based on the achievements of the apprentices under your leadership.
As the Security Engineering Apprentices Manager, you will be tasked with solving complex challenges, building scalable solutions to automate processes, and influencing how Amazon services respond to and mitigate security threats. You will own our Verification of Fix (VoF) process and findings classification initiatives while working closely with our security, engineering, and academic partners to drive the continued evolution and success of the apprenticeship program.Key job responsibilities
Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development among the apprenticesProvide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to ensure apprentices acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their rolesIdentify high-potential apprentices and facilitate their transition into full-time engineering positionsWork closely with the Amazon Security team to develop large-scale, cutting-edge testing, monitoring, remediation, and analytics solutionsCollaborate with internal development teams to create comprehensive security tooling and functional improvements at scaleOversee the end-to-end management of the Apprentices Program, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and development of cybersecurity apprenticesContribute to the security review and test methodologies for the recurring and holistic assessment of our critical production servicesCoordinate and oversee the apprentices involvement in the Verification of Fix (VoF) process, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practicesEffectively manage, mentor, and develop a team of motivated and talented apprenticesServe as a subject matter expert and advocate for the Apprentices Program within the organisationBASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience in the cybersecurity industry, with a technical background in areas such as pentesting, incident response, or vulnerability managementDemonstrated ability to lead and manage high-performing teams, with excellent people management and mentorship skillsStrong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and address challenges proactivelyExceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional partners and stakeholdersPassion for nurturing and developing the next generation of cybersecurity professionalsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A data-driven and quantitative mentality, with the ability to support ideas with available evidenceExperience with the design and implementation of technical security controls at the business division levelExperience performing or supporting pentesting engagements with an understanding of a holistic assessmentExperience with Amazon web services or similar enterprise cloud computing platformsExperience with full-stack (Linux / Unix) software architectures from UI to infrastructureExperience with micro-service, API-based agent, or service-oriented software architecturesParticipation in Bug Bounty programsAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
