Bristow Holland are pleased to be hiring for a Head of IT Infrastructure and Operations to join an innovative global business based in Cambridge. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced IT leader to shape and deliver the company’s technology strategy, ensuring its infrastructure supports growth, performance and long-term success.

The Role

As the Head of IT Infrastructure and Operations, you will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s IT infrastructure strategy to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security across all systems. You will oversee the design, implementation, and management of infrastructure across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments, aligning technology with business objectives and supporting the organisation’s operational goals.

This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical management. You will work closely with other departemental leads to ensure alignment across infrastructure and data environment, lead IT service delivery and continuously drive improvement in efficiency, reliability, and user experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company’s IT infrastructure strategy in line with overall business objectives

  • Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure (on-prem, hybrid, or cloud)

  • Ensure data security, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans are in place and effective

  • Manage IT infrastructure budgets, procurement, and vendor relationships

  • Lead IT service delivery, including incident, problem, and change management

  • Optimise IT operations for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency

  • Report on IT performance, risks, and projects to the Senior Management Team

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service levels

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to guide future strategy

    Key Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of at least five years in IT leadership roles

  • Strong technical knowledge across networking, virtualisation, storage, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

  • Experience with Windows and Linux environments and enterprise application management

  • Proven background in infrastructure planning, design, and implementation

  • A strong understanding of cybersecurity best practices, IT governance, and compliance frameworks

  • Familiarity with DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code

  • Excellent leadership, communication and project management skills

  • A strategic mindset with the ability to balance long-term planning and day-to-day operations

  • Relevant technical qualifications
