Job Description

The General Ledger Accountant performs a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions with significant focus on General Ledger accounting. This position is also responsible for supporting the Financial Accounting Manager in conducting key activities such as month-end and quarter-end close, Fixed Assets, Account Reconciliations and Audits. You will be recording and processing a vast range of financial transactions. A General Ledger Accountant is essential for financial reporting, and requires liaison with various departments and individuals across the DO & CO family.

  • To build and maintain excellent working relationships with other department ensuring the provision of a positive and professional service
  • Prepare journal entries, reconcile accounts, and ensure data accuracy.
  • Forward thinking administrator always looking to exceed targets and expectations whilst maintaining the collectiveness of the team and culture of DO & CO
  • Maintaining good working relationships with all DO & CO family members as well as our partners, vendors, and other stakeholders
  • Supporting Financial Accounting Manager with daily tasks as required
  • Conducting accurate record keeping for audit trial and reporting purposes as well as feeding into month end closure activities
  • Maintaining and updating the fixed assets database and intercompany recharge management
  • Prepare, review and submit VAT returns in compliance with regional and international requirements.
  • Monitor VAT transactions and ensure accurate reporting
  • Conduct internal audit to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies
  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies during inspections and audits
  • Manage and oversee financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
  • Perform reconciliations and analysis of accounts to ensure data integrity
  • Supporting the team with ad hoc requests as and when needed

Qualifications

  • BSc in Accounting, Finance or Mathematics or relevant experience in a Financial Administrator/ Assistant role
  • Ready to roll up your sleeves and do what is needed to give our partners the best service with a problem-solving mentality
  • Motivation to deliver exceptional service
  • Well presented, professional individual with a can-do, positive attitude that indulges in team success
  • Self-motivation, resilience, and a positive change champion for DO & CO in a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility and adapting
  • Experience in dealing with customs would be an advantage
  • Meticulous attention to detail and precise record keeping skills
  • Build strong relationships within the DO & CO Family, creating a team spirit, encouraging them to be at their best
  • You are a clear and engaging communicator, strong written and verbal English, and will use a variety of methods to keep the DO & CO Family well informed as well as internal and external stakeholders
  • Flexible in the way you think, making decisions efficiently and handling change to ensure everything we do is right for our partners and the DO & CO family
  • Highly proficient in excel with excellent working knowledge of accounting software packages and the ability to handle and integrate data sources, both manual and electronic
  • Good working knowledge of UK tax, auditing, and commercial regulatory rules
