Position Purpose:


Under minimum direction, oversees all maintenance personnel ensuring their compliance with the Facility Manager’s directives on safety and health, environmental and facility permit compliance, customer service, productivity, cost reduction, care of equipment, housekeeping, and recordkeeping. Manages the performance of all maintenance functions including, but not limited to, preventative, corrective and emergency maintenance on all equipment throughout the plant.


Key Job Activities:


Ensures the plant is maintained and unplanned downtime is reduced.

Conducts predictive analysis of all process systems and equipment periodically to update Preventative Maintenance system. Identifies equipment malfunctions, generates work orders, determines proper repair procedures, and assigns appropriate personnel to accomplish the task. Documents results based on schedule and priority.

Responsible for the hiring, training and development of Maintenance Engineers. Oversees contractors, working at the facility, to ensure quality of work, safety, housekeeping, and compliance per Stericycle policies and procedures.

Manages the troubleshooting and repairs of electrical systems.

Manages the maintenance of hydraulic systems.

Manages the troubleshooting and repairs of general air pneumatics, including air compressor operation and maintenance, regulator replacement, solenoid valve replacement, 2-way and 3-way valve, pneumatic pump repair, tubing installation, and general system troubleshooting. 

Manages the troubleshooting and repairs of steam and boiler systems, including annual inspections, valve replacement and other areas as necessary.

Manages the proper use power tools, including power drills, chop saws, reciprocating saw, grinder, and pneumatic hammers and welders.

General housekeeping of the shop and tool storage area (understands importance of housekeeping, performs housekeeping).

To be involved with the "out of hours" engineering support group, in providing frontline maintenance support both communicably and physically when required.


Education:


Education equivalent to associate degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, or the equivalent in related work experience.

Preferred Certifications/Licenses: COSHH, IOSH, forklift, confined space, Environmental permitting & awareness, Emissions monitoring, Accident & investigation, Permit to work, Hazard identification & risk assessment, Asbestos awareness, Legionella awareness, Fire awareness, Working at height, hand arm vibration, Electrical safety, Fire marshall, MEWP, Tower scaffold, slinging & lifting.


Experience (EMEAA):


Five or more years of manager / supervisory experience.

Demonstrates the ability to provide safe and regulatory compliant work conditions for all team members.

Demonstrates knowledge around continuous improvement practices.

Demonstrates a good knowledge of power wiring using 3-phase theory and wiring techniques, in addition to general wiring techniques for 110V system. Must know how to use a multi-meter for safe work practices and troubleshooting.

Preferred experience with incinerators or similar high temperature process equipment/systems.

Must have experience with high pressure boiler operations and maintenance.

Preferred experience with steam turbine and electrical generator troubleshooting and maintenance.

Preferred experience with the maintenance of air pollution control devices.

Experience with managing the use of forklifts, man-lifts, and various rigging equipment in the performance of maintenance activities.

Experience in managing lockout/tag out and permit confined space programs related to maintenance activities.

Experience with general air pneumatics, including air compressor operation and maintenance.

Must know how to maintain a hydraulic system and be able to read a hydraulic flow diagram.

Demonstrates the ability to use all power tools associated with metal machining.

The ability to weld stainless steel or higher alloys and to operate a TIG welder is a plus.

Demonstrates sound knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Must be able to input, monitor and manipulate data within these applications.
