The role

We are now seeking a Cook to prepare and provide nutritious, well-balanced meals for residents, maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, health and safety (in line with HACCP and COSHH regulations), while ensuring individual dietary needs are met at Amberley Nursing Home in Chesterfield.

Amberley Nursing Home is a 12 bedded purpose-built nursing home for older people who have a learning disability, dementia, complex needs and physical disabilities. It is staffed 24 hours a day by Staff Nurses and Home Support Workers and is situated in Calow, Chesterfield.

This role requires flexibility to work shifts, weekends and bank holidays and involves daily contact with service users. An understanding or awareness of supporting people with learning disabilities would be beneficial however not essential. You will also be required to complete mandatory training.

The ideal candidate will:

Have a Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above) Have good knowledge of food hygiene and awareness of statutory regulations health & safety, HACCP, and COSHH regulations and use of PPE. Be willing to complete mandatory training including safeguarding, moving and handling, food safety/hygiene training. Be aware that they may be in contact with clinical waste, bodily fluids and may be required to do some moving and handling which may include using equipment. Have an awareness of Equal Opportunities when supporting people with learning disabilities.
